THE CLIENT BRIEF

We were approached by Student Rooms 4 U to design and develop a more modern, fresh and engaging website. The client wanted us to use a vibrant colour palette and to have a navigation bar that consolidated all the key elements of a student search. The user would be allowed to toggle between two academic years in order to search for suitable accommodation.

In addition, a private student portal area was requested, together with a Virtual Tours page, Maintenance Form, Payment of Rent gateway and a consolidated view of each property. The website was to be designed in parallel with the existing website, so that there was a seamless transition.

On the back of this we were asked to continue with their digital marketing, which includes SEO, Google Ads, Facebook Ads and local search engine optimisation.

TECHNICAL APPROACH & DELIVERABLES

A series of mock ups were presented to the client before we started development. These formed the basis of a number of improvements that were made to the mock ups until all parties were satisfied with the look and feel of the future website. We then started development on a testing server, which the client had access to. This was to ensure that a rapid feedback loop was in place.

Once we had the development framework in place, we built each of the property pages on a pre-agreed template that we designed. Once this was developed, we then integrated the dual academic years that would allow users to toggler between the current academic year and the next, in order to see room availability.
